NEWSFLASH! Rolex Commodores' Cup

Provisional results with no outstanding protests show that the 2008 Rolex Commodores’ Cup was won by GBR Red.

All three skippers are long standing members of the RORC. For Jerry Otter this is his second win but the first victory for Peter Rutter and John Shepherd after years of trying.

“We got together on the first day of the regatta and we knew what we had to do.” Commented an elated Jerry Otter. “We managed to get a great result as a team on Saturday which gave us the seperation but the nerves were jangling right to the end. On the last race, (counting double points)Erivale really got going and we ran out of room forcing us to gybe back to the line, we got her going again and managed to fight our way back up the fleet but on the second run, we lost a halyard off a winch and it was a stressfull moment.But we are all absolutely delighted with the win against some fantastic opposition.”

Rumour has it that the Pier View is already rocking and there will be a few sore heads in the morning!
